Weekend away in Panama
---I waited to post this until we were home so I could add more photos. SO.. we are home safe and TIRED!
We are currently on the bus home from Panama. Friday we left around 7 am for Bocas del Toro, which is a small island just off the coast of Panama. We needed to go to the border for our visas so we decided to make a weekend trip of it.
Axels favorite thing is Mango Smoothies.
Another creation of God which I love.
So our morning looked like this.
Oh and my favorite part yet: fresh squeezed orange juice when we were at the border!!
It's by far my favorite treat in Costa Rica and Axels too. :)
We are currently on the bus home from Panama. Friday we left around 7 am for Bocas del Toro, which is a small island just off the coast of Panama. We needed to go to the border for our visas so we decided to make a weekend trip of it.
It's about 5 hours to the border and another 35 minutes to a small town where you take a water taxi to to the island.
A rough picture of us after a long bus ride. We were hot, sticky and just ready to get to our destination.
It's about a 20 minute ride to bocas del toro. The difference between Panama and Costa Rica was a lot more than I imagined. It was a lot poorer in Panama and a completely different way of life.
Once we arrived on the island we headed to our small hostel/hotel that we stayed at. Our first room had quite a bit of mold so we paid an extra 10 dollars to be "upgraded." We quickly discovered Our second room didn't have hot water when Caleb decided he needed a rinse. We decided it wasn't worth complaining about since we could see that both the outlets that the shower head could plug into were fried. Cold showers it was :). Axel got a quick cold bath in the sink and was far from thrilled. We spent the evening venturing around the island and getting food. It rained all night so the next morning was SUPER humid. One little fun fact about Axel is that he hates the heat. Our original plan for the day was to take a 30 minute bus ride to starfish beach and spend the day there but with axel working on his 3rd tooth and the humidity/heat we decided to rent bikes and visit a nearby beach and site see a little more. It's amazing how flexible you become with plans when you realize the importance of naps. :)
Caleb's got quite the tan line going.
Excuse my terrible posture. The seat would not go up on my bike because of the baby seat so I was semi squished while riding. Axel loved the bike riding for the breeze.
We were blessed to enjoy a weekend away. Although I didn't get to go to starfish beach, I still got to see starfish everywhere.Another creation of God which I love.
Loading the water taxi in the pouring rain, thanking god they have a tarp like top. Ordering delicious coffee on the dock and breakfast to go. Then on a taxi to changuinola which got us our bus to San Jose. Now I'm writing, enjoying the sites and enjoying my sleeping baby.
Blessings and happy June!

P.s.
Could you take a moment to pray for these girls? They went missing off the island and haven't been seen for 2 months and 9 days.
My heart breaks for them and for their family. Praying in Jesus name that they are brought home safely.
